No one should ever take a break from God, His glory, and the mission God gives to each of us. Church know that when we break for the summer — e.g. Sunday school, Tuesday Morning Online Study, Tuesday Evening Women Study or RENEW Bible Study on Wednesdays, or wherever you serve in our local church — God still is calling you to seek His Presence with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength.
We are called to an all-out, never full-abandoned pursuit of wisdom. Cosnider, Proverbs 2:2-5 (NLT) “Tune your ears to wisdom, and concentrate on understanding. Cry out for insight, and ask for understanding. Search for them as you would for silver; seek them like hidden treasures. Then you will understand what it means to fear the Lord, and you will gain knowledge of God."
We are not moved to a seasonal calling. The summer does not give us permission to pull up a lawn chair and watch the race instead of running the race. When we say we are taking the summer off, we mean something radically different than disengaging from seeking God.
Instead, we suspend certain ministry activities or events and fill that time with other important elements of our faith such as quality time with family and re-discovery and re-connected with God's creation. We’re not breaking from God, but swinging, competing, and listening for more of him.
Our Mid-week Bible Studies will re-start in early August 2022.
