New Sunday Worship Schedule

Updated: Feb 25, 2021

In their February 22nd meeting, the Session “Ruling Elders of the Church” unanimously approved a motion to re-structure Sunday mornings. They did so after prayerful consideration and with a clear vision for the future of our Congregation of Faith. Above all, the Session wants to invite you into a new season of discipleship, peer to peer relationships, and Christian education. We are sure that the newly approved schedule can provide something for everyone. So, let’s dig in! Here’s what you have to look forward to…

8:00am-9:00am - First Light (no live stream, no child care)

Yes! We are bringing back the First Light Service. This will be an intimate worship that will lean on public reading of scripture, the arts, media, an interactive sermon, and group discussion. The plan is to host this in the chapel or if attendance is up, create a space in a Fellowship Hall classroom that would serve this style of worship.

9:00AM - Nursery opens

9:15am-10:15am - The Crossing Worship Service (live stream + child care)

The Crossing is our contemporary worship service that is held in our cozy Fellowship Hall. This service will include a designated Children’s moment followed by children’s church in the education building (during the sermon).

10:15am-11:00am - Small Group Fellowship/Bible Study

This is one of the most exciting additions to the schedule. Having a universal “Sunday school” hour for folks to gather and fellowship is vital to the growth, development, and mission of the church. We are all eager to see how this develops and strongly encourage you to consider leading or participating in a small group.

During this time we will also offer SPLASH which is our children’s ministry. Ms. Shannon plans new lessons every week supported by activities, crafts and games. The nursery will also be available.

11:00am-12:00pm - Traditions Worship Service (live stream + child care)

Our Traditions service is our longstanding worship. The music ranges a variety of styles with a brass ensemble, handbell choir, piano, organ and vocal soloists. Centered among beautiful stained glass windows, this service hosts more traditional and faithful aspects of Presbyterian worship. There will also be a children’s moment in this service followed by an opportunity for children to leave with Ms. Shannon for children’s church.

I had the privilege of sitting in on many meetings where dedicated leadership of the church hashed out the possibilities, pros, cons and everything in between. I assure you that this decision was made with consideration to everyone who shared input, and the well-being of our Church. Please trust that this decision was not made in haste. After long dialogue, the session and staff are unified in this schedule moving forward and we are very excited to grow into our new routine. We plan to implement these changes beginning on Sunday, March 21st.
