Once again, as we end a busy day, our nation is grieved by the senseless loss of life.
On Monday, March 27, 2023, at Covenant Presbyterian Church and School in Nashville, Tennessee, three children, and three adults will not be home with their families due to the unexplainable actions of another.
On Monday night, your Session openly discussed this travesty of reality, realized the similarity of our church to this sister church in Nashville, and ached over this continuous suffering with no end in sight. We are similar not because of size or because we are Presbyterian but because we are a congregation that believes that children are bright, innocent representatives of our future with parents with all the same hopes and dreams for them and a congregation that finds value in combining education and faith.
And so once again we ask that you join us in praying fervently for discernment by leaders that can affect a change. Pray for the first responders' strength, the congregation's resilience, and each family that has suffered a significant loss. Pray for the children who will no longer see their little buddies and the indelible mark that this will leave on their young lives. We know that Jesus is present in all of this; may they genuinely feel His presence.
May the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, guard [your] hearts and minds through Christ Jesus” Philippians 4:7
Sincerely
The Session of First Presbyterian Church of Eustis
