Just a lil’ note... from MMO Explorers
Did you know that we have tots and explorers learning on our campus at our program called Mom’s Morning Out on Monday through Thursday? Ms. Cheryl Matthews is our fierce leader, cheering us on and encouraging us each day. The young tots are tenderly taught by Ms. Gretchen Simpson and Ms. MJ McDyer downstairs. The older explorers are taught to explore by Ms. Autumn Driggers and Ms. Mel Bolivar upstairs. On a light day, each class has 4 students, and on a busy day, we each have around 10 students. Some come every day and some once or twice a week. We focus on age-appropriate activities to engage and encourage growth and learning. In addition, we pray before lunch, share about Jesus’ love for all, and share stories from the Bible.
And how do we know when we are getting it just right?????? Well, when a child brings in a note, coloring page or drawing, or comes running in with arms wide open for a big hug, that is when you know! Elliana did just that last week. She comes to explore every day upstairs and is always eager to be a helper to her fellow explorers since she is the oldest in the class. This is the letter that she gave us last week: “This is the best school ever. I love to come every day. I love when we make friends. I love when we do things together. I love snack time and lunch time. I’m so glad we have the Barbie house!” She also drew several pictures, one of which is our school. It sure warmed our hearts to receive such validation that the kids are feeling welcome here, that they belong, that they are loved, and that they are excited to come here. The scripture reading from Luke 18:15-17 says, “Let the children come to me, and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God. Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it.” We strive to welcome the children in and to teach them that they belong to the kingdom of God!
And finally, when Lacie was asked last Thursday if she wanted to skip school because her little sister was feeling unwell, she shouted, “NO! I want to go to school today! My friends are there!” Praise Jesus!! We want you here. God wants you here. Come and grow at MMO!
