Mom’s Morning Out -- a great program for Moms and Toddlers

Dalton Yancy

In our recent Annual Report, Ruth Polgreen, MMO Director, informed that the Mom’s Morning Out program now has 17 toddlers attending with a few spaces still available. This church sponsored activity reaches young families with children 18 months to five years in age and meets on the church campus three days a week from 9 AM--noon.

Ruth declared in a recent interview that the program is “fresh air for me!” She supervises two staff members. Kayla, the Lead Caregiver, who has been with FPCE and MMO for some time and Gretchen, her other caregiver. Many of the children have adopted her as “grandma.”

“Together, Kayla and Gretchen make a great team,” Ruth acknowledged.

Children are read a Bible Story, participate in creative play and crafts, learn a spiritual song, and enjoy a wholesome snack during their morning session while their parents experience some “adult time.”

Ruth shared that the MMO Program is a way to serve Jesus for her. She had a career in teaching Kindergarten and leading a Head Start program in New York state. Her husband, Toby, a retired Junior High math instructor, has supported her with painting the facility and giving it a fresh look.

FPCE is fortunate to have these loving and caring leaders helping with Mom’s Morning Out. Perhaps church members may choose to support this ministry by giving “scholarships” for children. For more information check our website: www.FPCEustis.com/mmo
