We’re excited to share that we’re now about halfway through our current sermon series, “Who Moved My Cheese?” If you haven’t yet joined us, or if you’ve been following along, I want to warmly invite you to continue with us as we journey through this 6-week sermon series. This series, which began on August 4th, draws inspiration from Spencer Johnson's well-known book of the same name, but our focus is firmly rooted in Biblical teachings.
Our aim is to encourage you to awaken to the reality that we are called to be new creations in Christ. As Scripture tells us in 2 Corinthians 5:17, "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!" While we explore themes from Johnson's work, the series is deeply grounded in Scripture. We hope to continue sparking your curiosity and imagination, helping you to reflect on and reveal the transformative love of Christ in all that you do.
With that in mind, let’s talk about what’s coming next. Over the next three Sundays, we will delve into one of the most profound and impactful books in the New Testament (From the perspective of a former Lawyer turn Pastor), the Book of Romans. Written by the Apostle Paul, Romans is a letter that has shaped Christian thought and doctrine for centuries. But don’t let that intimidate you! My goal is to help you feel comfortable and excited about reading Romans, even if it has seemed challenging before.
A Little Background on Romans
The Book of Romans was written by the Apostle Paul around A.D. 57, during his third missionary journey, while he was in Corinth. Paul wrote this letter to the Christians in Rome—a diverse group of Jews and Gentiles who were struggling to understand how their new faith in Christ should influence their daily lives. They lived in a bustling, multicultural city, much like ours today, where the pressures and temptations of the world were always close at hand.
Paul had never met most of these believers in person, but he had heard about their faith and wanted to provide them with a clear and comprehensive explanation of the gospel. The Book of Romans is essentially Paul’s theological masterpiece, where he lays out the core beliefs of Christianity—sin, salvation, grace, faith, righteousness, and more.
Why is Romans Important?
Romans is not just a book for theologians or scholars; it’s a book for everyone. It’s a letter that answers some of life’s biggest questions: Why do we need salvation? How does faith in Christ change us? What does it mean to live a righteous life? These are questions that are still relevant today, and Paul’s answers can help us navigate our own spiritual journeys.
What Can You Expect?
In our upcoming sermons, we’ll explore three key themes from Romans:
August 25th - "Proactivity vs. Reactivity" | Scripture: Romans 12:9-17
We’ll talk about how being proactive in our faith and actions leads to better outcomes than merely reacting to circumstances. God calls us to actively engage with His Word and make deliberate choices.
September 1st - "In Spite of Your Fear" | Scripture: Romans 5:1-11
We’ll discuss how embracing challenges as opportunities for growth helps us develop endurance and character. God uses trials to refine and strengthen us in our journey of faith.
September 8th - "More than Motivated to Accomplish It" | Scripture: Romans 4:16-25
We’ll explore how success is not just about personal achievement but about spiritual transformation, victory in Christ, living by the Spirit, fostering unity, and trusting in God’s promises.
Romans might seem like a challenging book, but it’s filled with wisdom that is as applicable today as it was when Paul wrote it. As we journey through these next few weeks, I encourage you to read along with us, meditate on the Scriptures, and let the powerful message of Romans transform your heart and mind.
Let’s make these next Sundays a time of growth, learning, and spiritual renewal. I’m looking forward to seeing you there as we dive into the richness of God’s Word together!
