"Deborah: At The Hands of a Woman"

18th Sunday after Pentecost | Read Judges 4: 1-10

First was Othniel, the second was Ehud, and then Shamgar, son of Anath. Israel had 80 years of peace until Ehud died. Israel withdrew from God without Ehud and grew disobedient again, so the Lord turned them over to King Jabin of Hazor, a Canaanite king.

When Israel cried out to the Lord for help, the Lord again raised a rescuer to save them. Her name is Deborah, and she was not only a Judge but also Israel’s Prophet—a Legend indeed. She was constantly driving Israel to recognize the will of God in their daily lives and communicated God’s plan of salvation even when the leaders of Israel had their doubts.
