Sermon Recap, Feb 25th, 2024

On February 25th, we delved into the scripture of John 20:24-31, exploring the journey of Thomas, a disciple grappling with doubt and a loss of motivation following Jesus' resurrection. In the midst of Thomas's struggles, a profound lesson emerged—one of embracing vulnerability and extending forgiveness.

Central to the message was the remarkable example set by Jesus, who made himself available and vulnerable without assuming a victim identity. This concept should resonate deeply, highlighting the transformative power of forgiveness and reconciliation in our lives. Jesus calls us to extend this same grace and availability to others, even in the face of betrayal or abandonment.

Drawing inspiration from Thomas's journey, there is the poignant realization that we are called to embody Jesus's teachings of forgiveness and compassion. Despite the challenges presented by betrayal and doubt, we are encouraged to make ourselves available to those who have wronged us, offering a pathway to reconciliation and healing.

Throughout the sermon, I interwove personal anecdotes and relatable analogies to illustrate the complexities of forgiveness and vulnerability. Moments from my own life underscored the profound healing that comes from embracing vulnerability in relationships and extending grace to those who have hurt us.

At the heart of the message lies the importance of not burning our side of the bridge, even amidst life's trials and tribulations. Instead, we are called to embody Jesus's example, offering a message of hope and reconciliation to those around us.

Thomas's journey serves as a poignant reminder of the transformative power of Jesus's love and grace. Despite his doubts, Thomas ultimately proclaims, "My Lord and My God," a testament to the profound impact of encountering Jesus in our lives.

In conclusion, "Rectify While Burning" challenges us to embrace vulnerability and extend forgiveness, following in the footsteps of Jesus. As we navigate life's challenges and conflicts, may we heed Jesus's call to make ourselves available, allowing others to see God's love and grace reflected in our actions. Through this transformative journey, we can build bridges of reconciliation and healing, embodying the true essence of Christian love and compassion.
